Ensim® Pro and Ensim Basic 4.0.3 for Linux® (ServerXchange®) Migration Guide
February 23, 2005Introduction
This guide provides information and instructions on migrating to Ensim® Pro and Ensim Basic 4.0.3 for Linux®. For simplicity, we refer to Ensim Pro and Ensim Basic 4.0.3 for Linux as “Ensim Control Panel” throughout the document.
The migration is platform-independent. Irrespective of the current operating platform of your Ensim Control Panel server, you can migrate from version 4.0.1 and version 4.0.2 to any supported platform—Fedora Core 1, Fedora Core 2.
Topics in this guide include:
About the migration
You can migrate to Ensim Control Panel 4.0.3 from version 4.0.1 and version 4.0.2.
Migration is a two-step process that requires you to:
- Back up data on your Ensim Control Panel server
Sites hosted on Ensim Control Panel will be inaccessible when the backup is in progress. This could typically range from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the number of sites hosted on the server.
- Restore the data on a server running Ensim Control Panel 4.0.3
System requirements
Before you migrate, you must install Ensim Control Panel 4.0.3 on the server to which you want to migrate data.
Please note the version of the base file system (BFS) that must be installed on the server to which you migrate.
Fedora Core 1: Ensim Control Panel 4.0.3 requires BFS 01-13 to be installed on your Private and Dedicated servers. Once you install BFS 01-13 on your Private and Dedicated servers, you cannot install earlier versions of Ensim Control Panel on them.
Fedora Core 2: Ensim Control Panel 4.0.3 requires BFS 02-3 to be installed on your Dedicated servers. The release does not support installation of Ensim Control Panel 4.0.3 on Private servers.
For information on installation requirements and instructions, please refer to the document Ensim Pro and Ensim Basic 4.0.3 for Linux (ServerXchange) Installation Guide available at http://www.ensim.com/support/sxc/index.shtml.
